Quarterly Summaries 1772-1779

 

In each issue of Cook's Log an article appears saying what was happening to Captain Cook during his voyages.

1772 January - March Cook was preparing for his Second Voyage.
  April - June Cook was sailing from Deptford to Plymouth.
  July - September Cook was sailing south to Cape Town.
  October - December Cook was visiting Cape Town and sailing into the Antarctic Seas.
1773 January - March Cook was sailing in the Antarctic Seas, trying to find the extent of the Great Southern Continent.
  April - June Cook was recuperating at New Zealand before continuing to try to find the extent of the Great Southern Continent.
  July - September Cook was visiting Tahiti and the Society Islands.
  October - December Cook was visiting Tonga and New Zealand.
1774 January - March Cook was visiting Easter Island.
  April - June Cook was visiting the Marquesas islands, Tahiti, Huaheine, Niue and Nomuka.
  July - September Cook was visiting the New Hebrides and New Caledonia.
  October - December Cook was visiting New Zealand and Tierra del Fuego.
1775 January - March Cook was visiting South Georgia and Cape Town.
  April - June Cook was visiting Cape Town, St Helena and Ascension.
  July - September Cook was arriving home at the end of his Second Voyage.
  October - December Cook was editing his journals of his Second Voyage.
1776 January - March Cook was volunteering for his Third Voyage.
  April - June Cook was preparing for his Third Voyage.
  July - September Cook was sailing south in the Atlantic Ocean.
  October - December Cook was at Cape Town and Kerguelen Island.
1777 January - March Cook was at Tasmania and New Zealand on his Third Voyage.
  April - June Cook was among the Tongan Islands, where he was nearly killed.
  July - September Cook went from Tonga to Tahiti.
  October - December Cook was in the Society Islands and discovered Christmas Island.
1778 January - March Cook was at the western Hawaiian Islands and sailed to America.
  April - June Cook was searching the coasts of British Columbia and Alaska for a passage to the Atlantic.
  July - September Cook was searching the coasts of Asia and America for a passage to the Atlantic.
  October - December Cook was sailing south from America to the Hawaiian Islands.
1779 January - March Cook was at the eastern Hawaiian Islands, where he was killed.
  April - June Cook's ships sailed to Kamchatka on the east coast of Russia.
