"Reimagining Captain Cook" exhibition in London until 4 August, 2019

The exhibition has seven sections, each focusing on a place where Cook went: Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Hawaii, Vanuatu, Tahiti, and Great Britain.

It contains 88 objects and images, including 14 contemporary works. Eight of these have been specifically acquired by the museum for this display and are exhibited for the first time.
The highlight may well be a Tahitian costume worn at ceremonies to mark the death of a chief, on display for the first time in many decades.
It was collected on Cook’s second voyage.
