Janet - The muster roll for the Endeavour states that William Perry came from Chiswick, London, and was aged 21 when he joined the ship in 1768. He was the surgeon's mate, and was promoted to be the ship's surgeon when the surgeon died during the voyage. He is said to have been a conscientious man and was highly thought of by Captain Cook. Unfortunately I have been unable to trace what happened to him after the voyage. Did he sail again as surgeon on another ship, or did he decide to opt for the safer job of a local physician/surgeon on shore somewhere.
I think I am related to William Perry, he sailed with Captain Cook on the Endeavour. My mother was a Perry. I would like to know more.
