Following in the footsteps of Sydney Parkinson. A talk on 31 July

The 2019 Annual Captain Cook Lecture organised by the Captain Cook Memorial Museum is entitled
'Following in the footsteps of Sydney Parkinson: Adventures of a Botanical Illustrator'

It will be given by Lucy T. Smith
on Saturday 13th July, 2.30 - 3.30pm in the Normanby Room at Whitby Museum, Pannett Park, Whitby.

Lucy Smith, a botanical artist, had the rare opportunity to spend six weeks sailing aboard the Endeavour replica in 2001, during the filming of the BBC TV documentary "The Ship".  There Lucy had to recreate the role of Sydney Parkinson, botanical artist.  She will be bringing some of the artwork she created at the time.

This event is free, but booking is needed as space is limited.
