On 28 October, 1770, James Cook wrote “Employ'd as above”, meaning the entry for the previous day, which was “Employ'd geting out Store[s], Ballast &ca”.

 

Joseph Banks wrote “I went down with [Tupaia] to Kuyper and on his liking the shore had a tent pitch’d for him in a place he chose where both sea breeze and land breeze blew right over him, a situation in which he expressd great satisfaction. The Seamen now fell sick fast so that the tents ashore were always full of sick.
