On 21 February, 1771, James Cook wrote “In the night died of the flux Alexr Simpson a very good Seaman. In the Morning Punished Thos Rossiter with Twelve Lashes for geting Drunk, grossly Asaulting the Officer of the Watch and beating some of the Sick”.

 

Joseph Banks wrote “Lost another man”.
