17 November, 1770

On 17 November, 1770, James Cook wrote “Employd Rigging the Ship, geting on board Stores and water which last we have sent from Batavia at the rate of Six Shillings and 8 pence a Leager or 150 Gallns, We are now become so sickly that we seldom can muster above 12 or 14 hands to do duty”.

Joseph Banks wrote nothing, possibly as he was ill.
