On 15 June, 1771, James Cook wrote “Do Weather. At day light in the Morning Saw a Sloop to windward Standing to the Eastward which we run out of Sight by Noon”.


Joseph Banks wrote “Saw a small sloop which we soon outsaild and left behind. No weed at all today”.
