Cairn to Cook at Resolution Creek, Adventure Bay, Bruny Island, Tasmania, Australia

Description:
Standing on the ridge leading to Two Tree Point is this small weathered stone with an almost illegible inscription on one face “Resolution Creek”, on the more sheltered face of the stone is a dedication to Mrs McClean

History:
A Scottish migrant named John MacLean, who lived in the Adventure Bay area for some years, personally erected a small monument to Cook.   It is a somewhat crude affair, a piece of local dolerite rock faced with simple wording. (reported in 1993).
The original monument stood five feet high, and was made by John McLean in 1950, this was removed due to the road being reconstructed, and a smaller replacement was relocated near trees painted by George Tobin in 1792, who went on the Providence with Captain William Bligh to the South Seas.  This monument was badly vandalised, and the site closed off.   The replacement has since been placed near picnic tables at Two Tree Point, the plaque has been restored, and there is an information panel, by ‘Friends of Adventure Bay Inc’.
