Here are some more medals that did not appear in Allan Klenman's book.1 Like those featured in my previous article,2 I have given every item a number with a prefix of NK (Not in Klenman) or ND (No Date)..
NK59. Gilt bronze and silver, 21 mm. Issued in 1983 for the centenary of the Hawaiian Dollar of 1883. Made for L. Morel of New Zealand.
NK69. Bronze, antique silver, .999 silver, 38.7 mm. Struck by the Adelaide Mint for the National Conference of the Numismatic Association of Australia, held in Adelaide 23-25 October, 2015. The obverse is taken from an unfinished watercolour by John Webber, and shows Cook presenting a Resolution and Adventure medal to an aboriginal in Adventure Bay, Van Diemen’s land, on 29 January, 1777. This act of acceptance of a medal could be considered to be the start of Australian numismatics.
NK68. Silver. Bought by my wife as a birthday present for me at the auction at the dinner for the National Conference of the Numismatic Association of Australia in Brisbane, 9-10 November, 2013. The reverse features the title of the conference in braille, in honour of the late Graeme Stevens, a past president of the society who was an avid collector and numismatist, and continued his interest despite becoming blind.
ND8. Bronze, 18 mm. On the obverse it says “Captain James Cook 1728-1779, Middlesbrough”. On the reverse is a Christmas decoration. Can anyone help with further information, please?
