Muster records for the North Sea colliers of James Cook, 1747-1755

The musters reproduced on these pages are for the ships owned by the Walker brothers of Whitby in which James Cook served.

Cook became a servant (or apprentice) with the Walkers just as the law on musters came into effect so we have a good record (though not quite complete) of his time on the North Sea colliers.

Coverage is from his time in Freelove in 1747 through to Friendship in 1755.

A composite index to all of the ships can be viewed by clicking here.
