CCS in New Zealand 2019

The New Zealand section of the CCS is cooperating with the New Zealand Antarctic Society and the Friends of the Royal New Zealand Navy Museum Trust to organise a major
conference 15-17 November, 2019, in Auckland, New Zealand.

The conference dates have been chosen to coincide with the 250th anniversary of HMB Endeavour sailing in the adjacent waters of the Hauraki Gulf, and to avoid conflicting with other events and commemorations.

It will be a great time to visit NZ, and enjoy what is expected to be a unique and very stimulating conference. The conference will be held primarily at the Devonport Navy Base, using the Base Seminar Centre, Navy Marae (meeting house), Navy Chapel and Wardroom, as well as the Navy Museum and the National Maritime Museum.

The theme of the conference has been designed to align with the national approach of “Dual Heritage – Shared Future”, and will focus on both Polynesian and European voyaging and discovery.
Hence the conference is called “Terra Australis – Whenua-ki-te-Tonga” (Southern Lands). The Endeavour voyage will be a key part of the content.

Please Brian Wyeth for further details. The registration form can be found here
