The National  Meeting of the Captain Cook Society of New Zealand was held at the National Library in Wellington on the 12th and 13th of October 2013. 

Saturday 12th October

Forenoon  
0900 - 1230 Meeting for CCS Members at National Library. Two presentations:
John Robson on Cook the Map Maker
Dr. Nigel Rankin on Cook’s Cloak
Then discussion of future gatherings and how we might influence commemorations in 2019 of the 250th anniversary of James Cook's first visit to New Zealand
Afternoon  
1230 - 1400 Lunch in the Library cafe
1400 - 1600 Alexander Turnbull Library Tour. With Joan McCraken. Includes access to curators and a selection of material relating to Captain Cook.
1600 Informal time for individual pursuits.
1830 Whitby Room, James Cook Grand Chancellor Hotel
Pre dinner drinks followed by buffet dinner.

 

Sunday 13th October

Forenoon  
0900 - 1200 Tour of Te Papa by Bill Whelan, Te Papa's resident expert on Captain Cook.
View artefacts not normally on display.
1230 Envoi - A time when a meeting of “movers and shakers” meet informally to reflect and perhaps chart future plans.
