None of Captain Cook's children married and had children of their own.
So there are no descendants of Captain James Cook.
There are many people alive who can claim that they are related to Captain Cook, but they are all descendants of Cook's sister Margaret who married James Fleck.

My Nan always claimed we were related to Captain Cook, which we all joked about. My family were all from North Yorkshire (in the moors).
Looking at this family tree perhaps she was right! (her surname was Duck) :)

Samuel, I wonder if we are talking about different Captain Cook's, as Cook the explorer and navigator was born and bred in North Yorkshire, not Somerset. As for your suggestion of a connection with James Cook's father or grandfather, they came from Scotland. There were three Lieutenants James Cook serving in the Royal Navy in the late 18th C., I wonder if your line is descended from one of the others?

My grandmother’s name is Barbara Cook. Her whole life she has wondered if she is related to Captain Cook as although it is a common name her grandfather and further Cook family come from Somerset which is where James Cook’s family is known to have come from. We have traced her line to a Partridge Cook born in 1759 in Worle, Somerset, and his father William Cook, born in 1735 in Somerset. I know Captain Cook had no direct descendants and neither did his brothers. However we still think we could be related to either his father or grandfather. Can you guys help?
Thanks

Mr. Fleck,
I am a descendant - 9 generations - of Eliza Fleck(e) and Patrick Humphrey, now living in Taiwan.

I was wondering if you know of Captain Cook ever getting anywhere near here? The Dutch and Spanish had interests here around 100 years prior to Cook's voyages but i have yet to find anything in the logs.

Thank you

Debra, thank you for your enquiry. None of Captain Cook's children survived to marry and have their own children. So there are no direct descndants of Captain Cook. Whilst James Cook has several brothers and sisters, the only one who is known to have married and had offspring was his sister Margaret Cook. So it looks as if your Mary Cook is from another Cook family. The surname is not uncommon in the UK so there were plenty of families bearing the same surname.

Laura, yes Captain James Cook did have brothers and sisters. But only one survived to marry and have children of her own. This was his sister Margaret Cook who married a fisherman called James Fleck. Their descendants can now be found all over the world.
As for James Cook's father having any brothers, none have been discovered in the records for the town of his birth (Ednam in Roxbroughshire, Scotland). But it would be surprising if he had been an only child. I have yet to see a claimed line of descent from an alleged uncle that can be justified.

Elaine, the best family tree for James Cook can be found at http://captaincookfamilytree.com/
The only sibling of James Cook who is known to have married and had children is his sister Margaret. Whilst there are Fergusons and Jarretts amongst her descendants, none of them have the first names that you are looking for. Sorry that there is no information to bridge the gap in your family tree.
