22 January, 1771

On 22 January, 1771, James Cook wrote “Little wind and fair weather”.

Joseph Banks wrote “The Wind remaind as it was but one of the Duchmen had so far outsaild us as to be intirely out of sight; the other however was not so much ahead but that we sometimes flatterd ourselves with thinking that we could sail as fast as her. Some few Gannets and porpoises were about the ship”.
