Cooktown Discovery Festival, 16-18 June 2023

Captain Cook sailed into Waalmbal Birri, now known as the Endeavour River, on 17 June 1770.
He spent 48 days (seven weeks) here, the longest and most significant land-based stay during Cook’s east coast expedition.
The re-enactment of the landing of Captain Cook and his interactions with the local Indigenous people (Bama) will be performed on Sunday 18 June at 10am at Bicentennial Park.
