Mick, As Endeavour was sailing westwards across the Pacific, she crossed 180° longitude on 7 October, 1769. The journal writers should have adjusted their dates for the lost day. However, they did not do so until they reached Batavia, and were told that what they thought was 10 October, 1770, was really 11 October. So, 28 April, 1770, was really 29 April. The International Date Line was not established until 1854.

Good morning Your website at https://www.captaincooksociety.com/cooks-life/places/cook-s-landing-place-kurnell says Cook landed on the 29th April 1770, but the images shown of the plaques read 28th. Is their some contention as to the actual date or is this just a typo? Could you please clarify. Kind regards Mick
