William Hawkey sailed on Cook’s Second Voyage in Adventure under Captain Tobias Furneaux. Hawkey joined the ship on 8 January, 1772, as a master's mate. He remained as such until 31 December, 1773, when became an able-bodied seaman (AB). He kept a log.1
Hawkey became a lieutenant after the voyage on 6 September, 1775.
He may have been the William Hawkey baptised on 13 December, 1747, at Liskeard, Cornwall, son of James and Ann Hawkey. His death may have been in 1778.
