CCS 2012 meetings in the UK

 

The CCS UK regional meeting for 2012 took place during the weekend Friday to Sunday, 26th/28th October 2012.
The meeting on the Saturday, 27th October was held at the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum at Marton, near Middlesbrough.

The Captain Cook Society held a joint meeting with the Pitcairn Islands Study Group on Saturday 31st March 2012 in London.
The programme was:

  1. How the historians got lost at sea in the Pacific with focus on Pitcairn, the Bounty and the voyages of Captain Cook by Nik Darlington.
  2. A presentation on her new book Captain Cook of Royal Lineage by Dr. Amy McGrath.
  3. A talk on the work of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) in the Pacific by Dr Mike Brooke.
  4. The philatelic story of Captain Bligh by Alwyn Peel.
