Exhibition about First contact between Māori and Captain Cook at Dusky Sound

Tamatea, is the name of an exhibition at the Invercargill museum, New Zealand, from 26 March to 11 May, 2023.
It marks the time between the same dates in 1773 when the crew of Resolution sheltered in Tamatea (Dusky Sound) and explored the area, coming into contact with Māori.

The exhibition includes many different pieces of art, including William Hodges's Māori by a waterfall, 1773, the earliest painting of Māori in Murihiku,
